Just two days before the anniversary of Hurricane Maria, Hurricane Fiona ravaged through the island of Puerto Rico forcing many to evacuate their homes while others had to be rescued from the rising waters. Recovery could take months, the toll this crisis could have on peoples mental health is real. After the passing of Hurricane Maria five years ago the suicide rate in Puerto Rico rose by 29%. We want to give those affected a mental break to relax and reset their mental batteries before continuing to charge forward against the problems that lay ahead.
We’re building a bridge between short term rental hosts and those in need. We’re calling you to GIVE to RELIEVE the victims of Hurricane Fiona.
By giving to this initiative you are helping the victims of the hurricane return to a normal state of mind even if for a short period while they rebuild their lives. The staff and small business owners of the vacation rental ecosystem of Puerto Rico are also suffering unexpected losses that they weren’t prepared for. Many of these people live month to month, without a steady paycheck to rely on. This initiative helps them keep their lights on too.

How it Works:
- We’ve negotiated rate reductions with the property owners of 15% or higher and have reduced our commission to 10% just to cover expenses
- 100% of the donations collected will be used toward providing short-term housing for evacuees of the hurricane, and those affected by the widespread utility outages.
- Initial bookings will be for 2 nights as this initiative is meant to give victims a mental break, not be the long-term solve-all. As donations come in we can expand this program to longer stays.
